about Nackie Karcher

Stylist and Captain of Nauti Beauty

Nackie Karcher

I’ve spent the last 20 years living in New York City as a hairstylist and educator.

First as a session stylist on photo shoots, then behind the chair, ultimately owning my own salon in Brooklyn for over a decade.

My work has been featured in publications from Vogue to The New York Times, and I’ve partnered with incredibly talented photographers and a client base of mostly musicians, designers, creatives, and artists.

Over the years, hair has brought me to some of the world's most remote places, which also led to more boating adventures.

Leaving Florida in 2003, I found a home at Suite 303 salon in the Chelsea Hotel. After five years of providing inspiration to rock ‘n roll royalty, I opened The Karcher Salon fka The Parlour Brooklyn in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. There I began to build partnerships with Davines and Hairstory, companies that focus on beauty and sustainability. I also partnered with Green Circle Salons’ recycling and chemical waste disposal programs.

During this time in New York, the gulls flying over the East River were daily reminders of my attachment to the water.

After a lifetime of driving boats in the Florida Keys backcountry, and in the South Shore of Long Island for the past decade, I became a Captain for hire.

My goal is to empower women to learn to drive boats and inspire the adventures that come with this life skill.

You can book boat driving lessons or half-day excursions, and join my mailing list to find out when and where I will be cutting hair.

I am also a founding member of the Mastic Beach Conservancy, which helps to protect and clean up our six miles of wetlands and educate the community through art and aquaculture.

I must be a mermaid ... I have no fear of depths and a great fear of shallow living.
